A Friday Workout

I had a 2hr workout with Chris Adams today. We started with a leisurely 8 mile run in 1hr.
We both felt good during the run but began to wease and cough from all of the pollen shortly after stopping. Definitely not a look for people to take up running!
Chris: "My eyes, they're so RED and I can't breath." Me: "I feel like I'm coughing up a lung!"
After we stopped our dramatics we got inside and down to the rest of our workout.

Alternating Lunges x 24 - Face Pulls x 10 - Pushups x 12
3x
Deadlifts x 8 - TRX Rows x 15 - Overhead Press x 15
3x
Single Arm DB Carry - Core Ball - Pike (core series)
2x

Afterwards, I said to Chris "if we were professional athletes this would be our day everyday." To which he replied "True, but then I couldn't go eat the Veal Chop and drink a bottle of wine for lunch!" I replied "Suckers!"

Moral of the story: Love what you do and why you do it. Everything else is just good fortune.

Just Breathe

My day always has a little 'pop' to it when I've got a song in my head. You probably have had the same experiences (the kind of song that you play over and over on your Ipod when running?)

I've been singing and humming "Breathe" by Ryan Star the last 24 hrs.

"Take the world off your shoulders
And put it on me.
Breathe, just Breathe.
Let the life that you live
Be all that you need."

Seriously good song! I Think it may get some play on my long run tomorrow.

Enjoy the weekend everyone. Breathe.

Overheard Today

Lot's of chatter about the AMA's, Jennifer Lopez's oooops moment & weekend restaurant reviews. New Moon (Movie) brings in $140 million opening weekend!?!?

On Saturday, Francesca was in NYC at SweetiePie Restaurant talking to a FOX News Producer about the 'Falsehoods' being displayed on TV regarding Fitness & Nutrition.

Great excitement and last minute food shopping for the Thanksgiving Holiday coming up.

We will begin our search for a Full-Time Pilates Instructor.

The GIANTS Win! & The JETS Lose...Better hold off on the Hall of Fame Ceremony for Mr. Sanchez.

Sweatshirt sales are insane, we will place the order next Monday!

Clients are still buzzing about the Meatloaf Diaries from last week...very-very funny.

Just Stuff

On Saturday October 10th we will be having a little Pizza/Sushi & Wine gathering at Casa de Pucher for our Fitness 121 TEAM. Everyone has been 'bringing it' each day and it will be nice to enjoy each others company outside of work. Making a "Special Appearance" at our home will be the One And Only "Rick Ivone." For anyone who has never met Rick, you will leave the evening knowing 'You where in the presence of GREATNESS.'

But before we do that; Lori, Gary, Katie G. & Chris A. will be duking it out in Sandy Hook this Sunday at the Jersey Shore 1/2 Marathon...

Ain't U Tweet? No I aint!

The problem with "Social Networking" is that it leads to "Anti-Social" behavior.
I see so many of my fitness colleagues with their Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, U-Tubes; all keeping busy but is it making them money or just simply busy?

I know that the world "needs" to know that I'm drinking coffee in my Mickey Mouse T-Shirt, but despite my satisfying this "need" of theirs, my pocket doesn't reap any reward.
I'm all for technology.
I love the calculator! Especially when I'm doing long math and I run out of fingers & toes, but how much is really needed? My clients don't care what I'm doing when I'm not with them. If they do they usually call me. Truth be told, they'd rather not know. (I'm eating Donuts!)
I want them focused on their lives, not living through the cyber world of someone else.

No real point to this entry, but then again. That's my point isn't it?

Only Thursday?

It has been a busy day - let alone week.
We are in the process of being nominated for Fitness Facility of the Year. Now, other places may be BIGGER, some even have NICER SINKS in their locker room, but WE have the BEST TRAINERS, period!
Tomorrow is the FINAL day to vote for the 2009 T-Shirts. We are rolling out some new advertising in our local community to celebrate the 1 year mark of our "New" facility. Perhaps, most important is that we are knocking on the door to the "Hibachi 10."

In February, my TEAM and I traveled to Virginia for the 2009 IDEA Personal Trainers Conference. Basically, a collection of the best and the brightest sharing with one another. If you don't go to this conference each year you either:
a) are too smart to possibly learn anything from the 100's of top professionals
in our industry.
or
b) are too dumb to realize that "the best teachers
always remain a student."

I don't accept another excuse as these events are scheduled 12 months in advance and have attendance from around the globe!

Moving on...while in Virginia on our last evening, the TEAM & I went out for Hibachi. We sat around the table eating, drinking and having a great time. One of my employees said "We should do this again!" So I created the "HIBACHI 10". Every time we gain 10 NEW Clients we go out for Hibachi "Business Expense".
We put up a dry erase board in our staff room that reads HIBACHI 10. Every time a new client signs up we mark a notch. Since March 1st we are @ 8 with 3 evaluations scheduled for next week as of this morning! Call it the Law Of Attraction or whatever you will but we think - talk and joke about it each day. I'd say it helps!

As some of you know; I have been working in a Master Mind Group for the last month (a select group of 16 Top Fitness Professionals from around the U.S.) We exchange info and ideas and function as a TEAM to bring about the greatest in each other. It has been very rewarding thus far.

This weekend will bring me to my old "stomping grounds" of Long Branch, NJ. The NJ Marathon Weekend will take place and 4 of our Clients & Friends will be competing. Good Luck to Kelly, James, Lori & Barbara.
